Treehouse for Private Stay in a Macedonian Village
Treehouse for Private Stay in a Macedonian Village
We’re closing out the last days of 2020 with the most searched stories on Kajak.mk.
Read this story originally published in August. Since Tamara and Dušan are parents of young children, they asked us not to share their contact details until the COVID-19 pandemic is over. So, we invite you to enjoy the text for now, and hopefully, in better times, you’ll get the chance to visit them.
Meet Tamara and Dušan — true enthusiasts. As we’ve shared before, Kajak.mk aims to promote the small but meaningful things that contribute greatly to the development of local tourism. Besides aggregating offers from travel agencies, attractions, and private accommodations, we also talk to owners of small projects that have a big impact on tourism growth.
Such is the story of Tamara and Dušan, who built a treehouse in the village of Rankovce, just 20 kilometers from Kokino, or about an hour’s drive from Skopje.
Their wooden treehouse is named “TriHaus & TajniHaus” because it holds special meaning for them. The construction was started by Dušan, whose love for this hobby inspired him to invest his free time into building something like this. Later, Dušan met his future wife Tamara, who helped with the interior and became his full support.
They say they won’t stop here — there’s still much more to be done. To climb up to the treehouse, there is a ladder, and an interesting feature is that you can also climb up or down by rope.
Inside, the treehouse features a living area and a loft-style bedroom above it, offering a fantastic view. Surrounded by windows, the house fills with beautiful natural light during the day and creates a magical atmosphere at night, especially when the moon shines through.
Silence and a sky full of stars. According to them, the time of year you visit matters a lot. The favorite moments for every guest are the sunrises and sunsets. The accommodation is equipped with a fire extinguisher, a first aid kit, and guests enjoy free parking and breakfast. During winter, there is heating, and the space includes a small workspace for a laptop. An interesting feature is that meals can be prepared on a stone surface.
They say that the constant changes happening in the world are pushing people to shrink the space they live in. People are drawn to this lifestyle for many reasons, but the most important is the desire for more time and freedom. This “wooden” home, detached from everyday reality, can also be booked for overnight stays.
An ideal place for those who want to forget, even if just for a moment, the stresses of work, the internet, and the fast pace of life. As they told us, to protect their guests from the spread of coronavirus—and to keep their own family safe—this treehouse will not be available for rent for the foreseeable future.
