Small Family Winery with a Focus on Organic Production

Small Family Winery with a Focus on Organic Production

Organic grape cultivation is gaining more momentum in Europe, and Macedonia, as a country known for its wine, is in the process of gradually increasing its production of such wines, which currently hold a high price on the global market.

Today, the team at Kajak.mk will introduce you to the small family-owned winery "Zaharchev," based in the heart of Kavadarci. This winery currently produces wine exclusively from Balkan indigenous grape varieties, which are grown without the use of chemicals.

The winery is located in Kavadarci, near the sports hall, and was registered in 2020, when changes to the winery law became a reality and allowed small producers the opportunity to grow into something bigger.

The Zaharchev family has always produced wine and rakija, and today their wine production is exclusively from Balkan indigenous varieties such as Stanushina, Plovdina, Temjanika, Vranec, and Prokupac. Vranec and Prokupac are produced not only in the classic version but also in a barrel-aged version, which stays in oak barrels for up to 15 months.

For the second consecutive year, the winery has organic production in transition, meaning that no pesticides, herbicides, or insecticides are used during the grape growing process.

Starting today, "Zaharchev" is part of the world of Gastronomy, and you can find the winery's location and contact information with just one click HERE.
