Drashko Kolev Has Been Crafting High-Quality Solid Wood Products for Two Years

In the summer season, there's nothing better than sharing a few words about Draško Kolev, the Skopje native behind the brand "Kolev Rustic Wood," who has been seriously engaged in the craft of high-quality solid wood for over two years.

Draško shared his beginnings and mentioned that wood and wooden items have always been the perfect objects that beautify his home. From a young age, he showed an interest in creating something for his soul.

As time passed and his wood carving skills improved, Kolev's works became attractive to his close friends, who started asking him to craft items for their homes.

Over the years, Kolev found the motivation to seriously engage in wood processing, and he credits his friends as the strongest support for this step, recognizing the quality of his work.

Draško says that he started developing the craft on his own, as none of his family members had previous experience related to woodworking. He recalls that in the beginning, he watched and learned new things from the internet and adds that he “stole” knowledge from local carpenters.

Today, his best-selling items are tables, coffee tables, serving boards, and various board games. He most often uses walnut for his creations because, as he says, it has a very interesting design. However, he also uses oak, cherry, chestnut wood, and so on.

Draško says that chestnut wood is quite commonly used in this craft due to its softness when processed. Regarding the time needed for production, he mentions that it depends on the final appearance of the item and its intended purpose, and it also depends on whether the item will be coated with epoxy resin, which is applied in several stages.

Kolev, who is also a graduated mechanical engineer, states that he will continue to develop and learn and that he won’t stop here.
