Weekend Destination: Village Istibanja and Savaro Restaurant

Weekend Destination: Village Istibanja and Savaro Restaurant

Our gastro caravan is traveling through Macedonia at the speed of light. Almost every day, we introduce you to new gastronomic destinations where you can enjoy excellent specialties.

In addition to the food, the kajak.mk team aims to acquaint you with the surroundings of each gastronomic destination, so you can fill your weekend with outdoor activities.

Starting today, the Savaro Restaurant is part of our "Gastronomy" network, located on the main road from Istibanja to Macedonian Kamenica. For those who haven't heard of the village of Istibanja, this village holds great tourist potential with its healing geothermal baths. The Bregalnica River flows through the village, and above it is the Istibanja Dam and the Bregalnica River Canyon.

For those who decide to visit the restaurant, we recommend visiting the two churches dedicated to St. Paraskevi and St. Stephen. Every year in September, the village hosts the "Zdravozhivo" folklore festival, featuring many groups from Macedonia and around the world.

The hosts who opened the doors to Savaro Restaurant for us say that the establishment has been operating since 2007, and you can easily reach it with any vehicle as they have a large private parking lot.

The uniqueness of the restaurant lies in its location, surrounded by nature, greenery, and a river. The property features a large, spacious yard with grass, trees, and a playground for small children with various toys.

Guests are seeking locations away from the hustle and bustle, which is why they often visit the restaurant.

The specialties include the "Savaro Salad" and breaded zucchini, as well as grilled dishes and "mučkavica" as a specialty. However, the most popular specialties are the fish, such as carp and trout.
