New Direct Flights from Palermo to Skopje Announced – Boost for Balkan Tourism
Airlines Wizz Air, Ryanair and EasyJet are expanding their flight network between Southern Europe and the Balkans, opening a new phase in connectivity between Italy and North Macedonia. The focus is on the new direct route between Palermo and Skopje, which will start operating in the summer season of 2026.
The new route will enable faster and more affordable travel between Sicily and the Macedonian capital, creating additional opportunities for tourism and business visits. With this air connection, Skopje becomes more accessible to the Southern Italian market, while Macedonian travelers gain a new opportunity for direct access to one of the most attractive Mediterranean regions.
The expansion of flights fits into the broader trend of strengthening air connectivity between the Balkans and European cities. Improved accessibility may increase tourist traffic, support the development of new travel packages, and increase the region’s visibility on the European tourism market. The new route is expected to contribute to dynamic growth in travel between the two countries and further position the Balkans as an attractive and increasingly visited destination.
