Have you heard of the Krivoshija Pools?

Have you heard of the Krivoshija Pools?

Have you heard about the Krivoshija Waterfalls and did you know that Kajak.mk recommends them as a top active spring destination?

For those encountering the term "Krivoshija Waterfalls" or "Krivoshija Pools" for the first time, we’ll try to tell you a bit more about them.

Lovers of Šar Mountain know that Leshnica shines like a diamond across the entire mountain range. It is full of pure mountain rivers, waterfalls, dense and lush pine and beech forests, and countless rocky peaks. This is how many describe Leshnica — the valley that holds within it the Krivoshija Pools.

To reach Leshnica, you must pass through the characteristic landscapes of Šar, where you’ll find vast pastures and peaks reaching up to 2000 meters above sea level. Once you’ve crossed these, you will arrive in the valley of Leshnica itself.

Here, you will encounter the Pena River, which is fed by several tributaries originating at the foot of the peaks of Šar Mountain.

These waters, which are tributaries of the Pena River, have created several waterfalls, including the Upper Leshnica Waterfall, the Krivoshija Waterfall, and the famous Krivoshija Kadi — a natural phenomenon that forms large depressions in the rocks.

You can also reach Leshnica via a second route through the village of Bozovce. This route is a 12-kilometer-long forest path, but you should know that the ascent can only be done on foot or horseback and takes about two hours.

The Kajak.mk team recommends visiting this destination exclusively on foot or by bicycle. Be sure to bring bags for your trash and return your waste to the city bins.
