Horseback Riding in Galichnik: The True Macedonia in One Day
Horseback Riding in Galichnik: The True Macedonia in One Day
If someone asks us where to find peace in Macedonia, our answer will be Galichnik. A destination that every resident of Macedonia deserves to visit at least once in their life.
Nature, beauty, stories, and many other activities that are available to you at any moment of the day.
Galichnik and the region are awaiting the first snow, and with the snow, all activities here begin to slow down. However, this does not exclude the possibility of reminding you of what you can do during spring, summer, and now autumn, when the forest is golden, and the air has its own distinctive scent.
On the Kajak.mk platform, you can find "Sherpa Horse Riding," which we have written about before, and which, in our opinion, is an attraction that must be experienced.
Sherpa offers Western-style horseback riding. You will ride Balkan mountain horses, which are durable and stable for steep terrain, as well as semi-grown Arabian horses. When going on these rides, you should pay extra attention to pack suitable clothing for travel and ensure that you are physically capable of the journey.
Sherpa has a highly experienced team that can adapt to every rider's level, from beginner to advanced. Before the ride begins, each rider in the group receives individual instructions from a professional guide.
You can reach Sherpa via the road to Galichnik, which is the only one, and unfortunately, there is no shortcut that leads to this place.
Once you enter the "Mavrovo" national park, you will drive to Mavrovi Anovi, then continue straight. The MOST IMPORTANT thing is to turn left at the dam, meaning you should cross over the dam. There is a sign before the dam indicating that you must turn left to Galichnik, but it is not very noticeable. If you miss it, you will head toward Debar, and unfortunately, there is no shortcut to reach this destination.
The ranch offers various tours, such as the Rusin Trail, Saltanica Trail, adrenaline experiences, and even the possibility of family camping.
The Rusin Trail is a mountain horseback riding tour that will take you across the endless pastures of Mount Bistra to the traditional sheep farm RUSIN. On this tour, you will have the opportunity to visit the highest peak, Medenica (2,136 m), of Mount Bistra, offering an incredible view of the most picturesque part of the Stogovo massif (2,218 m). Riding through endless fields and rocky paths, you will experience something completely new and different.
By visiting the traditional sheep farm RUSIN, you will experience the shepherd's life up close and have the opportunity to learn about daily shepherd routines, such as the production of cheese, smoked cheese, and yogurt in the traditional Galichki way. At the end of the tour, you will enjoy a picnic lunch at the Sherpa Ranch, where you can taste the fresh Galichki smoked cheese from the Rusin farm, along with homemade pie, fresh vegetables, and a glass of rakija.
The Saltanica Trail, on the other hand, is an exclusive mountain horseback ride starting from the ranch, where the guide will lead you through the endless pastures of Mount Bistra, all the way to the Saltanica sheep farm. On this tour, you will have the chance to visit the highest peak, Medenica (2,136 m), of Mount Bistra and experience the freshness of the wild mountain spirit.
