Ethno Restaurant in Ochipala: Reviving the Area

Ethno Restaurant in Ochipala: Reviving the Area

Our gastronomic caravan has arrived in the village of Ochipala, where we met the new, young host Damjan, who recently opened his ethno complex "Chardak" to promote this Pijanec region in his unique way.

For those reading our article who haven't heard of the village of Ochipala, it’s located in the Osogovo region, just 2.5 kilometers from the town of Delchevo. Some Macedonian residents also know it as Ochipale or Ochipare. The village is mountainous, situated at an altitude of 600 meters.

The village also features Jovanovska Mahala, where the "Chardak" complex is located.

Damjan mentions that the complex is accessible by any type of vehicle, with a 300-meter dirt road from the main road to the restaurant.

The restaurant has been around since 2021, but it officially started this year. We are thrilled that the kajak.mk team is supporting Damjan in developing this place into another beautiful story.

Damjan adds that the story began with researching the traditions and old customs of their region, which led to the idea of opening an ethno restaurant to promote the area's richness. In the future, it will also serve as a complex.

The restaurant serves food from the Pijanec region, and within the restaurant, you can also notice props and inventory from the same region.

The standout specialities include "Jovanovska Trunta," a dough filled with cheese and baked in the oven. Also featured are the famous Delchevo kliši and various types of oven-baked or under-the-wooden-slat dishes.
