Collecting Truffles in Macedonia: A Unique Blend of Sport and Tourism
Collecting Truffles in Macedonia: A Unique Blend of Sport and Tourism
The Macedonian truffle can be combined with any type of food, from savory dishes to desserts, but it tastes best when grated over the food, says Mr. Vasko, who has dedicated his entire life to researching and studying this mushroom.
Vasko shares most of the truffles with his friends and close family, but he says that anyone interested can purchase the mushroom directly from his home.
Vasko believes that the Macedonian truffle, which grows in nature, deserves more recognition, and that people who are passionate about this hobby should receive more respect. The search for this natural treasure can take the whole day for Vasko. His adventure begins in the early morning hours and can last until late at night.
Fatigue doesn't pose a problem for him when his dogs are around, providing him with positive energy. There are days when the truffle hunt ends exactly at noon, and he spends the rest of the day with them in nature. He dedicates most of his time to them because, as he says, the dogs play the biggest role in determining how your day will go.
Vasko has a three-year-old daughter, and he hopes she will develop an interest in this hobby, so one day they can be together on the Macedonian mountains. Anyone interested can contact Mr. Vasko at the phone number: 075 275 687.
