Producing Barrel and Sparkling Macedonian Wines

Producing Barrel and Sparkling Macedonian Wines

There's nothing better than gifting Macedonian wine as a pre-New Year's present to your close family, friends, colleagues, or even for yourself – for the soul.

At Kajak.mk, we've decided to fully support small family wineries and promote them in the best light, encouraging you to click HERE and buy their wines. Do you know why we do this? Because, when you purchase an imported product, the purchase loses its significance. But when you buy from small local artisans and entrepreneurs, you make both them and your loved ones happy.

A third fact is that with every order through Kajak.mk, you plant a tree in Macedonia. Doesn't this whole concept sound charming?

Today, we want to introduce you to yet another great and experienced winemaker who has dedicated his life to wine and viticulture. We had a conversation with Ivica, the person behind the wonderful brand 'Winery Kuvin,' and from today, this winery has its own stall in the Kajak.mk shop.

Ivica has a wonderful brand that produces exquisite wines, from taste to packaging. In one word, it is an art that’s worth tasting.

Ivica shared with us the beginnings of the winery. Kuvin is a small family winery that was registered in 2015, although the family has been involved in winemaking since 2011. To stay true to the tradition and historical heritage of the region, the winery's name is a fusion of the village of Kučkovo and wine.

The vine that Ivica owns was planted back in 1964 by his grandfather.

"‘My grandfather’s love for the vineyard was continued by my father, who often said: ‘Wine can cloud the minds of the wise, make the sage merry, and bring a smile to the serious’ – Homer. As a child, I didn’t understand his meaning, but as I grew and matured, that same thought inspired me to turn the fruit of the vine into a divine drink,’ Ivica shares.

Before 2015, he found himself at a crossroads between: ‘Growing and selling grapes’ – like his ancestors, or ‘Professional wine production’ – opening a family winery. With the support of his loved ones, he made the decision to open a family winery.

Today, Ivica is proud of his brand. His winery has a capacity of 20,000 liters per year, while production fluctuates between 10,000 and 12,000 liters annually.

His winery, Kuvin, produces barrel-aged wines and sparkling wines in the traditional way. You can view and order all the products from the 'Kajak.mk Shop' or with just one click HERE.
